Ingredients:

  • 400 ml coconut milk
  • 400 ml water
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 Tbsp. of tomato paste
  • 2 pear tomatoes
  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1 Tbsp. tikka masala spices (also known as chicken masala)
  • 300 g cooked chickpeas

Preparation: step by step

Dice the garlic and the onion, and cut the carrots in half and then cut them into slices.

Lightly fry the vegetables for 5 minutes in a non-stick pan.

Add the peeled tomato that has been cut into cubes, the tikka masala spices and the tomato paste and cook it for 5 more minutes.

4 Cut the sweet potato into cubes and add it to the pan together with the coconut milk and the water.
5 Put the lid on and let it cook on medium heat for 30 minutes.

Finally, add the chickpeas and mix.

7 Note – If the sauce is not thick enough, take the lid off and carry on cooking for 5-10 minutes more.
8 Serve hot and enjoy!

Presentation

  • Ideal side dish: Serve the Chickpea Tikka Masala on a portion of basmati rice in a deep dish or bowl. Put a tablespoon of natural yogurt on top of the chickpeas and sprinkle on fresh chopped coriander for decoration.
  • Perfect accompaniment: Serve this dish with freshly baked naan bread or flatbread to enjoy the sauce and clean the plate.

General Tips:

  • Spice Adjustment: Customise the amount of spices you want, increasing or decreasing the amount of tikka masala (chicken masala).
  • Consistency of the Sauce: If the sauce is very thick, add a little bit of hot water. If you prefer a thicker sauce, cook for a bit longer on a low flame so that the liquid evaporates.
  • Early Preparation: The flavours intensify over time, so prepare this dish beforehand and heat it up just before serving.
